If you have the right milk texture and espresso in right quantity, then art is now a must as long as you maintain the temperature and right pouring.
To perfect how to make latte art you need to consider the following:
- Espresso quantity
- Frothing milk
- Pincher temperature
- Milk Temperature
1. Espresso quantity
Usually, your perfect latte is made up of a single shot or Double shot of espresso. This is determined by the concept of your coffeeshop. The ratio of espresso to milk should be 1/3 or 2/3. This is the right quantity for a perfect latte.
2. Frothing milk
The right temperature and milk texture is very important for a perfect latte. The perfect temperature for the steamed milk or frothed milk is or range between 155- 165 degrees Fahrenheit. You can use a thermometer, or you can determine it by use of your hand.
- Pour the into the pitcher and make sure its quantity is more than the required quantity.
- Submerge the tip of the steamer wand just below the surface of the milk. The time at which you the wand at this level is determined by the beverage you are making but normally should take 5seconds.
- Once you have pulled enough air into the milk and volume increased from level 2 above, move the steamer slightly further below the surface.(This is for latte, For cappuccinno maintain the same level). Also make sure the pitcher is tilted slightly and try to find the perfect spot for spinning the milk to whirl. This ensures the bubbles are fully incorporated into the rest of the milk, and when heating the creamy texture will be created.
- Once the temperature is at 150 degrees fahrenheit, stop steaming. This can be measured using your hand or feeling it with your hand. Gently tap the pitcher on the surface to get rid of small bubbles and swirl the milk around, this ensures the look is creamy and nice nicely textured.
- Now is the pouring, its a two step process which includes pouring the steamed milk in a circular manner to ensure its fully mixed with your espresso. And the second part is pouring the top beverage to have a lovelly dollop of fresh froth also make a latte art
3. Pincher and Milk Temperature
The pincher should always be kept in the fridge and also the milk. The normal steaming temperature should be 150degrees Fahrenheit for a perfect latte. This might differ between the beverage you are making.

Now that you have your espresso, perfectly frothed milk, you can make a perfect art. As a beginner the heart and rosette are the best arts to practice.
To make a heart art
- Tilt the cup with espresso in it towards you and pour approximately 80% of the steamed milk into the cup.
- Bring the pitcher to the edge of the cup thats closest to you and quickly shake it from the left to right to make a round shape.
- Once the round shape is attained, move the pitcher in a straight line across the cup (Away from you) to form a heart.
- Your latte is ready to serve.
